Tank Time
LIVE Animal Demonstration & Feeding
Saturdays, Sept. 22, Oct. 6, 20, and Dec. 3, 12:30 pm
Meet a new animal each week and steal a peek into their worlds. From snakes and turtles, to insects and amphibians, there is sure to be something for everyone! All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Cost: $4/adult & $2/child CAS Members; $8/adult & $4/child Non-members. Senior $2.
Migrating Monarchs
Saturdays, Sept. 29, and Oct. 6, 12:30 p.m.
Monarch Butterflies travel thousands of miles toMexicoeach fall! Hundreds sometimes rest and feed at Milford Point before they leave. Discover the fantastic story of Monarch migration, while we tag and release them as part of an ongoing research project. Advance Registration Only. Leader: Entomologist Verryn Jennings

Kids Night Out
Fridays, Sept. 28, Oct 12, Nov. 9, Dec. 7, 6:00-7:00 pm
Parents, drop-off your child at the Coastal Center for an evening of nature-based activities, including, roasting marshmallows, story-telling, playing games, and learning about the nighttime world of animals. Each evening will be different. What a great way to end the school week! Ages 6-10.

Family Orientation Day
Oct. 6, 9:30-11:00 am
Have fun learning to read a map and use a compass, as we traverse the center’s property in search of treasure! Make your very own compass, and learn valuable wilderness skills. All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Ages 6-10.
Cost: $8/adult & $5/child CAS Members; $12/adult & $8/child Non-members. Senior $5.
Rooted in Art: An Art-in-Nature Series
Saturdays, Oct. 13, 27, Nov. 10, and Dec. 1, 9:00-10:30 am
Create a work of art each week! This ongoing series will explore how nature and art are intertwined. Whether sketching our live animals, creating a piece of pottery, or making your own nature journal, we will delve into the many facets of art in nature and gain the basics that any artist needs. What a great gift for the artist in your family. Ages 6-10.

Super Stars
Fridays, Oct. 19, Nov. 16, and Dec. 14, 6:30-7:30 pm
Here’s a chance for the family to explore the cosmos with our staff and members of the New Haven Astronomical Society. Learn about the constellations, and how to use a telescope, during a fun-filled evening of star gazing. Programs will begin at the Coastal Center, then move to nearby Silver Sands State Park, where the Astronomical Society will have their telescopes set up. Ages 6 and up.
Cost: Suggested Donation of $5/person
Charles Island Explorations
Friday, October 26, 3:00-4:45 p.m.
Saturday, October 27 at 3:45-5:30 p.m.
Discover the natural history and folklore that make this island the “treasure” of Milford. There are often herons, egrets, ducks, and other waterbirds to see. Wear comfortable sneakers or boots that can get wet, as we hike the ¾-mile tombolo out to the island. Water, a snack, hat, and sunscreen are recommended. Advance Registration Only. Please call for directions, and register early for this popular program! We meet at the beach end of the main board walk at Silver Sands State Park.
Fee: $12 Adult, $6 Child CAS Members, $16 Adult, $10/Child Non-members, $7/Senior
