No Snowy Owls in Connecticut Yet But They’re Moving South

By Samantha Ross at Milford Point

The winter of 2013-2014 was totally awesome (that was the official designation) for viewing Snowy Owls in Connecticut and scores of other places across the United States. More Snowy Owls flew south from the Arctic than anyone could remember having happened before, and some were being seen in Connecticut as late as April

Is it possible that 2014-2015 will be as great? None have been reported in Connecticut yet. But our former Connecticut Audubon colleagues who moved west to work for the Roger Tory Peterson Institute in Jamestown, N.Y., are following this year’s irruption as it appears on eBird. Check out what they have to say.
