The John Patrick Flanagan Trail Blazers Program Brings Kids to the Woods
The John Patrick Flanagan Foundation has once again generously provided Connecticut Audubon Society with a grant for its Trail Blazers program, which brings Bridgeport public school students to our Center at Fairfield and its Larsen Sanctuary for a day of science education in the outdoors.
Students in the Trail Blazers program learn about conservation science while encountering frogs, turtles, chipmunks and the occasional Barred Owl.
Well over 1,000 students from Bridgeport’s schools have participated in the John Patrick Flanagan Trail Blazers program since its inception in 2010. The program not only gives students from the city to explore nature, it also helps their science teachers meet state science standards.
The John Patrick Flanagan Foundation helps vulnerable children and families by supporting charities that provide the direction, education and healthy environment that children and families need to have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
