Early Spring Wildflower Hike
Tuesday, April 10 – CANCELLED DUE TO FORECAST!
2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
1.5 – 2.5 mile loop
Enjoy early spring on the trails! Join Karen Cowperthwaite, landscape architect, for a guided walk at Deer Pond Farm in Sherman and discover native woodland treasures and weird wetland wonders.
We’ll look for trout lilies and marsh marigold, Dutchman’s breeches, pretty purple hepatica, and delicate wood anemones and more.
We’ll enjoy scented spicebush and gain a new appreciation for stinky (yet wonderful!) skunk cabbage as well as sedges and rushes and unfurling ferns. Not only are these plants real charmers, they are important for early pollinators.
Dress for the weather. Inclement weather cancels. Bring binoculars, camera and a sense of adventure.
