Testimony of the Connecticut Audubon Society to the Environment Committee of the Connecticut General Assembly in support of Raised S.B. No. 839 AN ACT CONCERNING ELECTRONIC DOCUMENTS AND PESTICIDE REGULATION IN THE STATE.

February 10, 2021

The Connecticut Audubon Society thanks the Committee and the sponsors of Raised S.B. No. 839 An Act Concerning Electronic Documents and Pesticide Regulation in the State for their foresight in proposing this legislation which we strongly support.

The Connecticut Audubon Society strongly supports any effort to better track the use of pesticides in Connecticut. As our understanding of the environmental and human health effects of certain pesticides changes we may become aware of environmental threats from pesticide chemicals that are currently widely used. A better system to track the use of such chemicals would allow us to better adapt and find alternatives and to prioritize any potential necessary cleanup efforts as we learn more about the deleterious effects of a given pesticide chemical.

Thank you for the opportunity to lend our support to this important proposal. Thank you very much for your consideration.
