Young, Gifted, and Wild About Birds: Artist Jenny Kroik

February 25, 2022 — Young, Gifted, and Wild About Birds turns to the arts!

Join the fun on Thursday, March 3, 7 p.m., when artist and illustrator Jenny Kroik talks about birds, painting — and painting birds.

You might know Jenny’s work from The New Yorker and other magazines. She teaches painting at the New York Botanical Garden and elsewhere.

Her method as a painter was to observe people in their everyday activities — shopping, strolling, visiting museums — and then to try to tell a story in gouache about what she saw. They’re like snapshots or slices of life.

When that became almost impossible during the pandemic, she turned to birds, which she hadn’t been interested in previously.

Via Zoom, she’ll present and discuss her work, and talk about how painting has helped her learn about birds.

And we’ll make sure there’s enough time for a demonstration to show us how she does it!

Visit her website here and then come back and sign up.
