Connecticut Audbon Society

You know a good environmental project when you see one. We’d like you to tell us about it.

April 8, 2025—How much good, important environmental work is being done in Connecticut?

The New York Times wants to know, and so do we.

The Times Is working on a feature called “50 States, 50 Fixes” and is asking readers to submit examples.

“What are we looking for?” the Times writes. “Stories of people, groups, organizations, strategies or innovations that are fixing environmental problems, from the state level down to the backyard.”

It sounds like a great idea, and we encourage you to participate. Use the form on this page to send them an example from Connecticut.

And also send it to us. Copy and paste it, and email it to tandersen@ctaudubon.org.

[You can also use the voice memo or voice recorder app on your phone.

Here’s a how-to for iPhones:

  1. open the Voice Memo app
  2. tap the red Record button
  3. talk about the project
  4. when you’re done talking, tap the red square to end the recording
  5. tap the 3 dots to the right of the voice memo name
  6. choose “share”
  7. choose “mail”
  8. Send it to me: tandersen@ctaudubon.org.]

The Times will publish one example from each state. We’ll publish every good Connecticut idea we receive, with a target date of Earth Day.

We’ll use the same criteria: “Stories of people, groups, organizations, strategies or innovations that are fixing environmental problems, from the state level down to the backyard.”

We’re not asking, by the way, that you choose Connecticut Audubon projects (although we wouldn’t object if you did—Osprey Nation, neonics/pesticide advocacy, shorebird protection, school-age education, and habitat restoration are all examples we’d be tempted to submit).

We know there’s a lot of good work going on, inside and outside of our organizations. We’d like to know which projects you think are effective.

We’ll share the results. When things in general look discouraging or even bleak, a statewide roundup of important environmental work would do us all good.

So respond to the Times’ question and then send your example to us: tandersen@ctaudubon.org.

Thank you!
