Junior Naturalist Weekly Themes

Eco-Art    June 22- 26 and August 8-14

Be inspired by the natural world! Conduct mini-science experiments and use digital microscopes to create nature-inspired works of art. Express yourself through sketching, painting, and mixed media. Campers will work on multi-day projects, building on what they learned the day before. Along the way, campers will take part in a week-long community science project, recording and illustrating daily nature observations.

River Rangers    July 6-10 and July 27-31

Interested in science and ecology? Want to learn how to design your own research? Campers will collect data, conduct scientific investigations, and design experiments using scientific
equipment. Each day, campers will work on their investigation as they ask and answer their own scientific questions.  Throughout the week, campers will contribute to a community science project by gathering daily observations, helping support real ecological research.

NEW ! – Avian Adventures     July 13 – 17

Soar into a world filled with feathers, flight, and fascinating bird behavior! Campers will learn to use binoculars, field guides, and their own observation skills as they search for local bird species and explore the habitats that support them. Daily activities may include nest investigations, migration games, bird calls, feather studies, and designing bird-friendly spaces. All week long, campers will participate in a community science project by conducting daily bird surveys and contributing their findings to an ongoing monitoring effort. Through exploration and creativity, campers will discover what makes birds unique and how we can help protect them.

Eco-Engineers          July 20- 24

Become an environmental innovator! Campers will embark on a journey of discovery, connecting with nature while developing their engineering skills. This camp combines outdoor exploration, teamwork, and hands-on projects, all while fostering a love for the planet and empowering campers to make a positive impact. Throughout the week, campers will work to design their own simple, environmentally friendly “machine”. In addition, campers will participate in a week-long community science project, collecting real-world data.

NEW!  -Eco-Investigators    August 3-7

Become a nature detective as you uncover the hidden stories of plants, animals, water, and soil! Campers will use real scientific tools—magnifiers, field guides, and microscopes—to examine clues from the natural world and piece together how ecosystems function. Through hands-on investigations, outdoor exploration, and guided inquiry, campers will learn how to ask good scientific questions and make evidence-based discoveries. Throughout the week, campers will contribute to a community science project by collecting and recording field observations that support real environmental research. Each day builds on the last as Eco-Investigators work to solve nature mysteries and share what they’ve uncovered.
