I-95 Safety Barrier Meeting Set for Thursday in Fairfield
The Town of Fairfield will hold a public informational meeting with the commissioner of the state Department of Transportation and the developer concerning the I-95 Service Plaza projects at Exit 22, on Thursday, September 18, at 7:30 p.m. at Sherman Elementary School, 250 Fern Street.
Connecticut Audubon Society is among many in the Fairfield community to express serious concerns about the plans for the new service areas, specifically about the lack of the kind of safety barriers that were included in a similar project in Darien.
The service areas are near local schools and residential areas, and the northbound area borders our Birdcraft Sanctuary, a national historic landmark that is enjoyed by hundreds of school children and others each year.
In announcing the meeting, Fairfield First Selectman Michael Tetreau said that the purpose is to allow residents to “voice your ideas and pose questions to the commissioner and the developer.”
His announcement also said: “For those who are unable to attend, please email the First Selectman’s Office at firstselectmanffld@town.fairfield.ct.us with your name, address, phone number and email so the Town can send any handouts that may be given out and also inform citizens of any possible additional meetings. In addition, anyone who is not able to attend may also email the First Selectman’s Office with comments that you want to be submitted at this meeting.”
For further questions, please call the First Selectman’s Office at 203-256-3030.
