Lecture Series Speakers

Bruce Beehler, a naturalist, ornithologist and author of monographs and books is well regarded for his studies of the birds of New Guinea. A research associate in the Division of Birds of the Smithsonian’s Museum of Natural History, his work is currently focused on research and writing about nature and the natural history of North America. Beehler will sign his popular book, North on the Wing (Smithsonian: 2018), following the lecture

Commissioner Rob Klee was a practicing attorney before joining the deep in 2011 as chief of staff. Appointed commissioner in 2014, he holds his degree in law as well as a PhD in Industrial Ecology from Yale University.

Rob Bierregaard, former professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and current director of the National Audubon Society’s Hog Island Nature Camp Raptor Rapture session, has had an infatuation with raptors since boyhood. His study of Ospreys began in southern New England in 1971. With numerous publications, he now adds author of children’s books to his CV with the publication of Belle’s Journey: An Osprey Takes Flight.
