Meet Our Raptors at the Center at Fairfield

What is a bird of prey? Whooo hunts at night? Learn this and more as you experience the thrill of meeting live raptors during this family-friendly program on our back lawn. By seeing the powerful feet and talons of some of these magnificent birds, you will understand the origin of the name “raptor” which means “to seize or grasp.” After the program, enjoy a walk on your own in the adjacent Larsen Wildlife Sanctuary.

The Center at Fairfield provides a permanent home for a number of non-releasable native birds. Each of them is at the Center because they were either imprinted on or suffered a permanent injury that makes them unable to survive in the wild. They now serve as ambassadors for their species in educational programs such as this, teaching about their natural history and the issues facing raptors today.

This is a family program for all ages; children must be accompanied by an adult. Members/Non-members $6 per person. Pre-registration required. Click here to register. Once registered, participants will need to complete a waiver. This program is at the Center at Fairfield, 2325 Burr Street, Fairfield, CT.

Participants are required to wear masks and practice social distancing (mask removal at the discretion of the program leader). The entire program is outdoors, so please bring water, a sun hat and apply sunblock and bug spray before arriving. Center building and facilities (including restrooms) are closed, however, there are portable toilets available (please bring hand sanitizer).
