Shorebirds of Connecticut: Watch the presentation by Brad Winn

August 21, 2020 — Fall shorebird migration is at its peak in Connecticut now — tens of thousands of shorebirds are feeding and resting during their southward migration in a rarely-matched display of diversity and abundance.

If you’ve ever been awestruck by them, this is the presentation for you: Brad Winn, director of shorebird habitat management at the Manomet Center for Conservation Sciences in Massachusetts, discussed New England’s sandpipers and plovers, their life cycle and migration, conservation status, and efforts to protect them.

Patrick Comins, Connecticut Audubon’s executive director, served as moderator and helped answer questions during the Q&A. His is the first voice you’ll hear.

The hour-long program was streamed live on Thursday evening, August 20, for 185 people via Zoom. It is presented by Connecticut Audubon in conjunction with the Audubon Alliance for Coastal Waterbirds, a partnership to protect Connecticut’s shorebirds.
