Features
The habitat on this neighborhood preserve consists of a red maple swamp with brook through the lower part of the preserve, and an oak-maple forest and cedar meadow.
Trail
a mile-long loop skirts the wetland and the meadow.
The trail includes steep sections and can be wet and muddy depending on the seasons and the weather.
Birds
Eastern Bluebirds nest in the meadow. Look and listen for Pileated Woodpecker, Veery, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and Eastern Screech Owl. Banks South Farm attracts good numbers of songbirds during spring and fall migration.
Other wildlife
Mink live on the property, as do typical suburban mammals such as white-tailed deer.
