Situated along Long Island Sound and at the mouth of the Connecticut River, Old Saybrook is in a unique position to attract a wide variety of shorebird species. Some species will stick around and nest on the sandy beaches and salt marshes, and others will follow the Connecticut River to breeding grounds further north.
