July 18, 2024, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Deer Pond Farm
$5 for members, $10 for non-members
Forests are dynamic ecosystems that are constantly undergoing change. Forestry management goals are to increase native tree species, tree age classes, and support habitat for diverse birds and wildlife. Join Deer Pond Farm’s Sanctuary Manager/Naturalist and certified forester Lori Lichtenauer on a hike to discuss the previous and ongoing forest management projects here. Along the hike, we will discuss the similarities and differences between traditional forestry and silviculture, including forestry management challenges with climate change.
Register here for the July 18 forestry hike.
This program meets at Deer Pond Farm, 57 Wakeman Hill Road, Sherman, CT 06784.
