Advocacy

Connecticut Audubon devotes a significant part of its conservation work to advocacy. It’s a crucial complement to our education programs and our on-the-ground habitat improvement projects.

The work could not be more timely. Bird populations have been falling steadily for more than half-a-century. Connecticut Audubon strives to do its part on a statewide basis to help stabilize and restore those dwindling numbers.

For 2026, two bills before the General Assembly in Hartford are at the top of our priority list. An Act Concerning Pesticide Reporting Modernization (HB 5155) is the next step in a strategy to reduce the use of neonicotinoid pesticides in the state. An Act Concerning a Climate Change Superfund (HB 5156) addresses climate change in various ways, including by an increased reliance on nature-based solutions.
