Overview
700 acres encompassing upland hardwood forest, hemlock groves, managed young forest and shrub habitat, bogs, swamps and beaver pond. The Croft Preserve is part of a larger landscape of mainly unfragmented forest.

Trails & Terrain
Unmarked. Croft is primarily managed for wildlife, and trails are very muddy and steep in places, making them challenging to navigate. There is a long logging road trail that leads from the parking area to the interior, and passes the large habitat restoration area.
Habitat
Northern forest including a 100-acre successional forest restoration.
Wildlife
More than 100 bird species have been observed here but because of its remoteness, the Croft Preserve has not been heavily birded. Look and listen for Winter Wren, American Goshawk, Canada Warbler, and Hooded Merganser. Bears are common in the area.
