Save The Sound Unified Water Study Internship

The Unified Water Study (UWS) is administered by Save the Sound (STS), with the goal of helping groups around Long Island Sound collect comparable data on the environmental health of our bays and harbors. Historically, the monitoring work was conducted by different groups with various monitoring approaches, making it difficult to accurately compare water quality conditions in the Sound’s many inlets. By standardizing the protocol, the UWS delivers reliable data to further our understanding of the health of Sound which, in turn, will inform and support actions to preserve and protect it. This standard method involves biweekly sampling at selected sites within a specific embayment, with this particular project held in the Black Hall River in Old Lyme, CT.
