Project Limulus is an ongoing research and monitoring program, organized by Sacred Heart University, to better understand the distribution, movement, longevity, and mortality of horseshoe crabs in Long Island Sound. Horseshoe crabs are a near-threatened species, and overharvesting has led to a dramatic decline in the Sound. At this event, participants will take part in tagging and monitoring horseshoe crabs for this project.

Participants should wear shoes or boots that can get wet and sandy, and bring a sun hat, plenty of sunscreen, and a bottle of drinking water. We will be outdoors on the beach for the duration of the program.

Please be advised, there are limited openings and pre-registration is required; walk-ins cannot be accepted.
